Süleyman Demirel University ((カザフ語:Сүлейман Демирел атындағы Университет, ''Süleyman Demirel atındağı Universitet''), (ロシア語:Университет имени Сулеймана Демиреля),(トルコ語:Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi), abbreviated as SDU) is a university in Kaskelen, Almaty, Kazakhstan. It is named after Süleyman Demirel, the former prime minister and president of Turkey. The university was established in 1996, by the initiatives of the president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, and the former president of Turkey, Suleyman Demirel. ==Campus== SDU has been using its new “Smart Campus” since the academic year of 2011-2012. The campus was specially built with the capacity for accommodating more than 7000 students. There are 8 faculties at the university, of which courses are instructed in English and Kazakh languages. The new campus offers an excellent learning environment with its 16 lecture theatres, 120 auditoriums, 3 research centers, 8 computer labs, 2 internet cafés, conference hall, stadium, gym, medical center, 2 halls of residence and 2 comprehensive libraries, which are based on electronic cataloging system and search engine. Additionally, the campus houses 3 canteens and coffee bars. At the moment, some parts of the campus are under construction.
